The Hot Drink Duo [Urban, Knight]

Urban sighed as he curled his fingers around his mug, eyes flicking over to the kitchen door nonchalantly. It was too early for many people to be up, but Nathan had woken up splayed out across one of the hallway floors about half an hour ago and figured there wasn't much point trying to get any more sleep after that. Hence he'd just about managed to drag himself to the kitchen, throw together a pitiful attempt at a coffee, and overload it with sugar. It was the sugar thing he was slightly concerned about, though.

Sure it was probably a silly thing to worry about, but he'd built up a reputation for being a resolute drinker of black coffee and black coffee only, at least in the mornings. He didn't want to ruin that. That much sugar was childish, and, of course, Nathan was anything but. He was cultured. He glanced again at the door to the kitchen. He was certain no-one was going to turn up, but still. It never hurt to be sure.

Gaze retuning to his coffee Nathan took a large sip, figuring he'd waited long enough for the drink to cool. He hadn't, he immediately realised, as his mouth began to burn violently. Slugger. Naturally it was at that exact moment that Nathan's hypothesis about it being too early for anyone else to be wandering the building was proven false, by the arrival of one of his fellow superheroes. "...Oh. Hello," Nathan muttered, abashed, words slurred due to the damage he'd done to his tongue. People seemed only to show up at the most inconvenient of times.

Waking up early in the morning definitely had its perks, Knight decided.
It meant that she was more often than not the first to use the training room, first to use the pool, and first to use the kitchen.

Or so she thought.

Upon approaching the room, she had heard someone moving about inside, and could smell coffee. Peeking around the corner of the doorway, her suspicions were confirmed as she spotted Urban silently stirring his drink. She pulled away when he turned, but she looked in again.

What's he doing up this early...? she wondered, and as she watched what looked like Nathan taking a sip of his drink too soon, she allowed herself a quick and small smile before entering the room. Nodding to him, she replied, "Good morning to you." She glanced at his mug. "Nothing like coffee in the morning, hm?"

If nothing else Jackie wasn't exactly the type to make a big deal out of the issue, Nathan supposed. She probably wouldn't bully him about it. Maybe. "Yeah, 's good," he said, "burnt m' tongue though, but I guess you already knew tha'." He shrugged a little, blinking wearily. "No big deal."

Nathan stared firmly at the drink in his hand, trying not to dwell on the thought that Jackie might have noticed the bizarre amount of sugar decorating the kitchen counter. He didn't have the best co-ordination in the mornings. Or ever, come to think of it, but the marble counter was downright buried under his attempts to actually get something into his mug. He also tried to ignore the sneaking suspicion that she might have twigged the fact his coffee wasn't actually black, for once. Which probably shouldn't really have been the thing he had most issue with, really, because slugger his mouth still hurt, but Urban wasn't exactly the most logical individual.

"You a coffee drinker too, then?" He asked, doing his best to distract from the mess he'd made with a half-hearted attempt at small talk. He'd never really payed much attention to the habits of anyone else on the team, so he wasn't sure why he was so convinced other people would keep track of his coffee preferences. He just was.

Passing by where Nathan was, Jackie almost took a double-take at the dusted counters, but pretended not to notice as best as she could. It's almost as if he's trying to be comical on purpose, she thought, and wondered if he'd actually clean it up later.

Standing on her toes, she barely managed to open up a cabinet that hung up above one of the sinks and ran her hand along the contents inside. She shuffled through the spices until she touched a familiar box. Pulling it out, she turned towards him and shook it.

"No, I'm more of a tea person. Coffee does mayhem to my teeth." Fingering through the little packets inside, she picked one and sniffed it. Shrugging, she opened another cabinet to retrieve a cup and a kettle. "I guess today's a 'Toasted Mate' sort of day," she said more to herself than to the other person in the room.

Looking over her shoulder, she gestured towards him.
"How do you take your coffee?"
